SPECIAL DISASTER ASSISTANCE RECOVERY GRANTS – EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES – PRIMARY PRODUCERS HAS BEEN ACTIVATED FOR THE FLINDERS SHIRE.
For full details please visit: http://www.qrida.qld.gov.au/current-programs/Disaster-recovery/special-disaster-assistance/special-disaster-assistance-primary-producer
Special Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants will be available to assist with the following costs of eligible primary producers:
- The hire cost of a helicopter used to deliver fodder drops to stranded livestock;
- The cost of fuel associated with the use of an applicant’s helicopter to deliver fodder drops;
- the costs as invoiced by a Local Government Authority for use of a helicopter to deliver fodder drops;
- purchase of fodder
Flinders Shire Council is assisting with the co-ordination of emergency fodder drops. We are currently contacting properties in the severely effected areas, to establish the current situation with fodder and Avgas availability held on property. If you are able to coordinate your own fodder drops, please do so. Council has engaged a Jet Ranger, which is expected to be in the Shire Saturday afternoon 09/02/2019 to commence fodder drops.
Property owners requiring our assistance for fodder drops, will be invoiced by Council for their portion of aerial costs, which eligible producers can then claim under this scheme.
Property owners with their own hay, where the weight is known and is suitable for purpose, will only be charged for the manifest time. Property owners without hay will be provided with a list of local suppliers and can make their own arrangements to purchase the hay prior to pick up.
The property owner will need to agree to these terms before fodder drops can commence. This can be done via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by texting 0491 499 104 providing the following information:
- Property Name
- Authorising Person
- Number bales to be distributed
- Collection point of fodder
