COMMUNITY SPONSORSHIP AND DONATIONS COMMUNITY SPONSORSHIP AND DONATIONS

Council receives a range of requests for financial support and assistance from community organisations and individuals to assist with the development of events, sports, arts, heritage, recreation or other community activities within the Shire.

The objectives of the Flinders Shire Council’s Community Donations and Sponsorship Program, is designed to build relationships with community organisations to provide benefits to the Flinders Shire residents and visitors by ensuring Flinders Shire is a vibrant active community.

This program aims to support community organisations in Flinders Shire by:

  • Providing mentoring opportunities to community organisations to strengthen their organisation;
  • Promoting community awareness and value of cultural and community events and festivals;
  • Enhancing the profile and appeal of the region and attracting new visitors to the region by a diverse events and festivals program;
  • Facilitating community interaction and stakeholder relationships with Flinders Shire Council;
  • Generating local economic activity and development

Applications must demonstrate:

  • The funding request directly supports a demonstrated need within the community or the project provides a direct or indirect benefit for residents in the community.
  • The applicant organisation is making a contribution to the project 
  • Proposals should be consistent with Council’s Corporate Plan outcomes and strategies - 
  • An accessible community 
  • Aged facilities and service to meet the community needs 
  • Recreational services meet the needs of the community 
  • A vibrant and active community 
  • Visually appealing and well presented towns 
  • A safe and prepared community
  • Community facilities that meet the needs of the community 
  • A community that values art, history and culture
  • All eligibility criteria have been met.

Community Sponsorship Program

Round 10 (for events and projects in January - June 2020) will be opening on the 30 September 2019.  Applications close on the 28 October 2019.  Outcomes will be released late November.  Applications will be submitted via the Smarty Grants website.  Click here to visit the page.

Refers to amounts from $500 to $2000.  Applications will only be accepted within the set cycles (see below).  No out of cycle applications will be accepted.  An extra cycle may be called if budgeted funds were not expended.  Only one application will be accepted from each organisation on their own behalf per funding cycle.  The level of assistance available is limited by Council’s budget decision and its priorities.  No applicant can be guaranteed sponsorship nor can any applicant be guaranteed to receive the full amount requested. 

Cycle 1 - open October to November, applicants advised of outcomes in December - for events and projects run between January and June.

Cycle 2 - will be called in January, assessed in February and announced in late March for events and projects run between July and December.
For general club sponsorship applications maybe submitted in either cycle.

Community Donation Program 

Refers to amounts below $500.  Applications will be accepted throughout the year, however must be submitted 6 weeks prior to need.  Only one application per project / event in either the Sponsorship or Donation Programs will be accepted. The level of assistance available is limited by Council’s budget decision and its priorities.  No applicant can be guaranteed a donation nor can any applicant be guaranteed to receive the full amount requested.

Applications must demonstrate:

  • The application should address a community need and reflect a clear whole community benefit. 
  • The applicant organisation is making a contribution to the project 
  • All eligibility criteria have been met.
