Council is committed to slowing the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and is following health authorities’ guidance for hygiene and social distancing.  We ask that our customers observe the following directions, to help protect your health and safety as well as our employees
  • We encourage residents to transact business over the phone or on-line.
  • If you are showing COVID-19 symptoms please DO NOT enter the Main Council Office.
    • Symptoms: Fever (high temperature) > Flu-like symptoms, sore throat, difficulty breathing and / or fatigue
  • Please ensure you keep a distance of 2m between yourself and other customers.
  • Please practice personal hygiene and good sneeze / cough etiquette.  
  • Hand sanitiser is on the counter for your convenience – we encourage you to use it.
  • Council is disinfecting the counter in-between customers. 
 
 
Payment Options - Council has a few different payment options available:
  • BPAY – information can be found at the bottom left of your Invoice or Rates Notice
  • Internet Banking – please see below bank details for Council

  • Credit Card over the Phone – Please call the office on 4741 2900
    • You will be required to inform the Council Officer of your Credit Card Number, Expiry Date and CVV Number
  • Over the Counter Transactions – The Main Council Office is still currently open, we are trying to limit the amount of cash transactions where possible and if you can pay by EFTPOS please do so.
 
 

Flinders Discovery Centre

OPEN 

As of Monday, 18 May 2020 the Flinders Discovery Centre (Visitor Information Centre and Shop Front only) will reopen with social distancing measures in place and a maximum of 4 people in the facility.  The museum will open in Stage 2 of the Roadmap to Easing Restrictions.  Staff can be contacted by calling 4741 2970 or emailing info@flinders.qld.gov.au

Hours of operation will be Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm.  Public Holidays Closed. 

 

Flinders Shire Public Library

OPEN 

As of Monday, 18 May 2020 the Flinders Shire Public Library will reopen for borrowing / loans only with social distancing restrictions in place.  Public computers and group activities such as First Five Forever Playgroup will not occur until Stage 3 of the Roadmap of Easing Restrictions.  Staff can be contacted by calling 4741 2976 or emailing librarian@flinders.qld.gov.au

Hours of operation will be Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 9am to 12pm. 

 

Human Services (Centrelink)

OPEN
Centrelink Officer is currently open at present.
 
Location: 32 Stansfield Street at the back of the building.
 
Opening Hours: 
  • Monday 9am to 12.30pm 
  • Tuesday - Thursday: 9.30am to 12.30pm
  • Friday: Closed

 

 

Community Care Program

CUSTOMER SERIVCE COUNTER TEMPORARILY CLOSED,  CLIENT SERVICES ARE STILL CURRENTLY BEING DELIVERED
The Community Care Program office is temporarily closed to the public, staff can be contacted by calling 4741 2960 or emailing ccc@flinders.qld.gov.au
 
Services Provided: 
  • Domestic Care / Assistance: Current arrangements continuing – No planned changes at present
  • Personal Care: Current arrangements continuing – No planned changes at present
  • Social Support: Social Connectivity provided in Clients homes only
  • Transport: Transport to Doctors or Hospital outpatients appointments and then transport to home only
  • Home Maintenance and Gardening: Current arrangements continuing –  Clients to contact HACC Reception on 07 4741 2960 to book services
  • Home Delivery Service: Available Monday, Wednesday & Friday – During hours of 9:00am to 12:00pm.
    • Grocery and Chemist supplies – Clients may order through local supermarkets/chemists, pay at time of ordering by credit card asking supermarket to let HACC Reception know to arrange delivery.

 

Community Care Staff are participating in ongoing training including infection control in order to ensure the highest possible standards are provided to our valued clients at all times.

 

 

Recreation Facilities

TEMPORARILY CLOSED 

Flinders Shire Council will temporarily close a number of facilities, as outlined below, from Monday 23 March 2020 until further notice.

Facilities Include:
  • Hughenden Showgrounds
  • Diggers Entertainment Centre
  • Prairie Hall
  • Hire Council Equipment
  • Community Bus Hire

RV Camp Grounds

TEMPORARILY CLOSED

The Flinders Shire Council has temporarily closed  the Hughenden RV Camp Grounds, from Monday 23 March 2020 until further notice.

National Parks & Reserves 

SITES BEGINNING TO REOPEN - REFER TO PARKS WEBSITE

Queensland national park and State forest sites that were closed due to COVID-19 are progressively reopening.

From 11.59pm 15 May, all national park and forest day use areas and walking tracks will reopen, except for some popular rock pool destinations.
