Festival of Outback Skies unveils exciting official event program for 2024

The Hughenden Festival of Outback Skies has proudly launched its official event program for 2024, packed with thrilling entertainment and cultural experiences set against the region’s stunning Outback horizon.

The festival, which takes place from 3–5 May, promises three days of excitement, creativity, and celebration for attendees of all ages, with tickets already selling fast.

Visitors will be mesmerised each night by captivating live music performances featuring an impressive lineup of artists:

Friday night (3 May)

Kick off the festivities with an electrifying night of music featuring Australian country music star and Golden Guitar winner Duncan Toombs, Amber Lawrence, and Hotter Than a Hoochie Coochie.

Saturday night (4 May)

Immerse yourself in the spirit of the Outback with performances by Australian Idol and The Voice star Hayley Jensen and the Johnny Cash Tribute Show, ensuring an evening filled with unforgettable tunes and lively entertainment.

Sunday night (5 May)

Conclude the weekend with a magical performance by Opera Queensland, along with Hayley Jensen and Dan Thompson, offering a sublime blend of contemporary and classical music under the vast outback skies.

Full program highlights

Aside from the musical highlights, the festival offers a diverse range of activities and events, including:

  • Rodeo events showcasing the skill and bravery of competitors in saddlebronc, bareback bronc ride, roping, steer wrestling, barrel race, and bull ride
  • Yoga sessions, art workshops, dance workshops, and a BBQ competition
  • Champagne breakfast at Mount Walker, meteor shower viewing, drumming circles, and Dinner under the Stars
  • Raft race, twilight markets, lantern parade, BBQ demonstrations, and lakeside fun.

Flinders Shire Mayor Jane McNamara said the council was proud to host the festival for its second consecutive year, building upon the resounding success of last year’s event.

“The Festival of Outback Skies celebrates the lifestyle and interests of our unique region,” she said.

“We’re thrilled to officially announce this year’s program, which is jam-packed with amazing activities and events.

“I encourage you to head to Hughenden this May and rejuvenate your batteries for a weekend of indulgence.

“This festival has such a diverse program you can be as busy or relaxed as you like, and it all takes place in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.”

“With cost of living increasing for everyone, we have worked hard to provide a program which also includes a range of free and low-cost family-friendly activities.”
