MEDIA RELEASE - NEW PLAYING FIELD A REALITY
Footy and field sports players of the Flinders Shire are celebrating with the breaking news today that Council has been awarded $100,000 to install irrigation, turf and fencing for a new playing field at the Hughenden Showgrounds.
Funding has been provided by the State Government's Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing as part of their Get Playing program.
The new grounds will be the new home of the Hughenden Bulls (senior rugby league), Hughenden Hawks (junior rugby league) and Hughenden Town and Country Club (Rugby 7s), and other field sports will also be welcome to use the facility, including the four schools in the Shire.
Work on the project will commence before Christmas and it is anticipated that players can play on the field next season.
