2016 WINGATE PROPERTIES NORTH QUEENSLAND SPORTS ENCOURAGEMENT BURSARIES

2016 Wingate Properties North Queensland Sports Encouragement Bursaries are now open for applications.  

The selection process will take into account the desire for the athlete to achieve in his/her sport.  

Recipients will be awarded a unique embroidered track suit jacket along with a cheque for $650. 

Guidelines: Applicants must be under 18 years old in the year that the Bursary is awarded, i.e. they must still be 17 or under as at 31 December 2016.
 
Residency: A recipient must be a resident of the Council area nominating them for the Bursary.  They are deemed a resident if he/she considers the City/Shire/Regional Council their primary place of residency.
 
Sponsorship: A recipient will be considered even if they may receive sponsorship and/or assistance.

Applicants are asked to give a summary of his/her achievements in their chosen sport and their aims and goals for the next 12 months.  

 

Applications are required to be placed in the "Tender Box" at the Flinders Shire Council Office (34 Gray Street, Hughenden) by 5.00pm on Wednesday, 13 July 2016 from which two (2) applicants will be nominated for the Bursary to the North Queensland Sports Foundation.

RATE NEWS FOR PENSIONERS

To provide assistance to pensioners in the Flinders Shire both Council and State subsidies may be available to eligible ratepayers for their principal place of residence.

If you are a ratepayer in the Shire and currently hold a Queensland Pensioner Concession Card or Queensland Repatriation Health Card you may apply to Council for a Rate Concession.  Application forms are available on request.  

If you currently receive a subsidy you do not have to re-apply.

For new applications to be considered in the 2016/2017 rating year completed applications must be received by Council prior to 30 June 2016.

FLINDERS DISCOVERY CENTRE
PRESENTS
‘WE ARE THE OUTBACK’ ART EXHIBITION

Flinders Discovery Centre will be unveiling a new Exhibition. Dates have been extended from Monday 20th June – 29th July 2016.  We are asking residents of Flinders Shire to contribute to this Exhibition with art pieces that can either be for display only or for sale. 

All art must portray ‘We are the Outback’ and must relate to the Flinders Shire area. 

All art MUST be framed or can be canvas and each piece MUST have fittings for hanging. Each exhibitor may enter a maximum of five (5) works.

Art that is for sale will be charged a 20% commission with proceeds to the Flinders Discovery Centre.

Art categories are as follows: Photography, Painting, Drawing (Charcoal or Pencil), Collage or Paper Tole.

•    Broken in Horses Only
•    Successful applicants for the reserve will be drawn by a ballot

•    Breeder Cattle only
•    Maximum capacity: 50 Head (breeders and calves)
•    Successful applicants for the reserve will be drawn by a ballot.

 

AGISTMENT – PRAIRIE CEMETERY COMMON RESERVE, PRAIRIE

•    Term: 3 months
•    1 month agistment fee to be paid up front
•    Agistment fee: $3.30 per head per week 
•    Breeder Cattle only
•    Maximum capacity: 50 Head (breeders and calves)
•    Successful applicants for the reserve will be drawn by a ballot.

 

AGISTMENT – PRAIRIE RESERVE (AERODROME), PRAIRIE

•    Term: 3 months
•    1 month agistment fee to be paid up front
•    Agistment fee: $3.30 per head per week 
•    Breeder Cattle only
•    Maximum capacity: 40 Head (breeders and calves)
•    Successful applicants for the reserve will be drawn by a ballot.

 

AGISTMENT – STAMFORD RESERVE, STAMFORD

•    Term: 3 months
•    1 month agistment fee to be paid up front
•    Agistment fee Cattle: $3.30 per head per week 
•    Agistment fee Sheep: $0.33 per head per week
•    Breeder Cattle only
•    Maximum capacity: 200 Head (breeders and calves) or sheep equivalent
•    Successful applicants for the reserve will be drawn by a ballot.

 

AGISTMENT - TORRENS CREEK RESERVE, TORRENS CREEK

•    Term: 3 months
•    1 month agistment fee to be paid up front
•    Agistment fee: $2.20 per head per week 
•    Cattle breeders only
•    Maximum capacity: 80 head (breeders and calves)
•    Successful Agistee must supply own water
•    Successful applicants for the reserve will be drawn by a ballot
