With regard to Council's recent advertising of Labourer and Front-end Loader Operator vacancies, some appointments have been made and management is now reviewing Council's operational requirements to determine whether any further appointments need to be made in 2012 or early 2013. Council has received more than 100 applications over recent months of advertising, and the applications received will be filed and referred to should any suitable vacancies arise in the short term. Applicants will be contacted by telephone or email should they be considered suitable for a vacancy. | ||

The Flinders Shire covers an area of 41,632km2 supporting a population of over 2000 residents. Hughenden is the main business centre for the shire which also encompasses the smaller communities of Prairie, Torrens Creek and Stamford. Rail, Bus and Air passenger services are available and other services include a hospital and a choice of education facilities from Prep to Year 12. Hughenden is supported by a wide range of commercial businesses.
Hughenden won Western Queensland's Environmental Innovation Award for 2005, the Environmental Protection Award for 2007 and the 2008 Tourism Queensland Friendly Town Award for the Region.
