ABOUT THE ROLE

The Plumber is responsible for undertaking maintenance, repairs, and construction activities relating to Council’s water and sewerage infrastructure across the Flinders Shire. This role plays a key part in ensuring the reliable operation of essential services and contributes directly to Council’s operational and strategic objectives.

Employment Status: Permenant Fulltime

Award:  The position is classified as a Level BT1 under the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream C) Award – State 2017.

Salary Range: $70,515 gross per annum

The successful candidate will have:

Essential Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently relay information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service, and the ability to respond to customer enquiries in a professional and patient manner, achieving mutually agreeable solutions and de-escalating conflict.
  • Ability to work within a team, share knowledge and experience and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated written/verbal skills with the ability to complete accurate paperwork and follow directions.
  • Where required, stay in camp accommodation away from town and undertake work outside of normal business hours including participating in an on-call roster. 
  • Commitment to uphold Council’s Code of Conduct, Workplace Health and Safety and Anti-Discrimination policies.
  • Current national general construction induction (white) card; and confined spaces ticket.

Essential Education/Qualifications

  • Recognised trade qualification within plumbing and drainage services with demonstrated industry experience in repairs, maintenance and operations as related to the role. 

Essential Licences

  • Minimum MR Class drivers’ licence with good driving history and willingness to provide driving history if/when required.

Other Requirements

  • This position operates from Council’s Choose an item. in Hughenden, however, may be required to travel within the Local Government Area and work outside of standard business hours to meet the requirements of the role.
  • Travel (including outside of normal hours) to attend training may be required
  • The incumbent must be:
  • prepared to work flexible hours to meet the requirements of the position;
  • willing to obtain a ‘Suitability Card’ to enable the incumbent to work with or supervise people less than eighteen (18) years of age if required;
  • medically fit and physically capable to meet requirements of the position;
  • Prepared, if required, to undertake a medical assessment by Council’s medical practitioner; and
  • Prepared, if required, for Council to undertake a Criminal History Check
