POST-ELECTION MEETING | APRIL 2024

Following the Council Declaration on 2 April, the Post Election Meeting was held on 5 April 2024 for Council to decide on a number of key operational matters prior to the first official Council Meeting.

The items discussed included:

• Cr Niki Flute elected as Deputy Mayor
• Council meetings to be held on the 4th Wednesday of each month
• Discussions to expand and establish a working group within the community were tabled for further consideration at future meeting. This decision was made in order to allow additional time for consultation with the community regarding how they would prefer Councillors to represent their interests. The matter is set to be revisited at the upcoming first general meeting.
• Cr Shane McCarthy, Cr Clancy Middleton and Cr Peter Fornasier appointed as members of the Council Plant Committee
• Discussion and appointment of Councillors to represent and attend a range local and regional organisations
• Cr Kelly Carter and Cr Kerry Wells appointed as tourism representatives on the Australian Dinosaur Trail, Overlanders Way and Outback Queensland Tourism Association
• Mayor Kate Peddle appointed as Chair of the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG), and Cr Kelly Carter appointed as Deputy Chair and Chair of the Recovery Sub-Committee. Additional Councillors appointed to the LDMG are Cr Shane McCarthy and Cr Peter Fornasier
• Council to support the nomination of Mayor Greg Campbell from Cloncurry Shire as district representative of the Local Government Association of Queensland’s (LGAQ) Policy Executive.
