Hughenden Leisure Precinct Master Plan
The Hughenden Leisure Precinct Master Plan establishes a long-term vision for the renewal, enhancement and future expansion of the Hughenden Leisure Precinct, comprising the Hughenden Memorial Pool, Allen Terry Caravan Park and Youth Precinct/Skate Park.
Launched in July 2026, the Master Plan has been developed to guide future investment, funding applications and staged delivery of infrastructure improvements that support community wellbeing, tourism growth, recreation and economic development.
The Master Plan is underpinned by extensive community and stakeholder engagement undertaken between December 2025 and July 2026.
Engagement included community surveys, stakeholder workshops, meetings with operational staff and facility managers, engagement with elected members, and consultation with local students.
A total of 87 community survey responses were received, with the majority from Hughenden residents and regular users of the precinct.
Key themes identified through the engagement process include:
- Replacement of the ageing 33m swimming pool with a contemporary heated 25m pool
- Improved pool amenities and year-round usability
- Expansion and upgrade of the Allen Terry Caravan Park
- Enhanced youth recreation opportunities
- Increased shade, landscaping and public amenities
- Improved accessibility and pedestrian connectivity
- Upgraded lighting, CCTV and community safety measures
- Development of the precinct as a connected destination rather than a collection of separate facilities.
Detailed design work for the Hughenden Memorial Pool redevelopment has been completed and an independent Quantity Surveyor assessment estimates the total value of the full Master Plan at approximately $38.74 million (excluding GST and future escalation allowances).
The Master Plan provides a strategic framework for staged improvements across the precinct, while strengthening integration between facilities and establishing a high-quality leisure and tourism destination for Hughenden.
