ABOUT THE ROLE

The Business Trainee will undertake a range of business services tasks that assist Flinders Shire Council, including administrative and customer service support while undertaking a structured traineeship in business administration.

The role combines practical on-the-job learning with formal training to complete a Certificate III in Business through an approved Registered Training Organisation.

Working under supervision, the trainee will gain experience across a range of administrative functions while contributing to the efficient delivery of Council services to the community. As skills and knowledge develop, the trainee will progressively take on additional responsibilities.

Employment Status:  Full Time - 1 year contract

Award:  The position is classified a Level 1 under the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream A) Award – State 2017

Salary Range:  $64,087 - $70,515 annual salary range 

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will have:

Essential Knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and develop new skills in a workplace environment.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications or the ability to quickly learn new systems.

  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.

  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality and a positive work ethic.

  • Ability and commitment to successfully complete the formal study requirements of the traineeship.

  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence (or ability to obtain).

     

Desirable
  • Completion of Year 12 or equivalent.

  • Previous work experience, school-based work experience or volunteer work in an office environment.

  • Interest in pursuing a career in business administration or local government.

Essential Licences
  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence (or ability to obtain).

     

Other Requirements
  • This position is a traineeship supported through the Queensland Government First Start Program. The successful applicant must meet the eligibility requirements of the program, including eligibility to undertake a traineeship and participation in a nationally recognised qualification.
