Citizen of The Year Award

This award is presented to an individual who has made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.  Service to the community can be made through civic participation or other noteworthy contributions.  
To be eligible, the person must be 27 years or older as of 3 December 2022.
 

Junior Citizen of The Year Award

This award is presented to an individual who has made a noteworthy contribution during the current year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.  Service to the community can be made through civic participation or other noteworthy contributions.  
To be eligible, the person must be under the age of 27 as of 3 December 2022.
 

Senior Sports Person of The Year Award 

This award is presented to individuals for their sporting achievements, their actions which inspire, enrich and encourage others and who have made a significant contribution towards the sporting achievements of the Flinders Shire during 2022.
Nominees must be 18 years of age or older as of 26 January 2023.
 

Junior Sports Person of The Year Award 

This award is presented to individuals for their sporting achievements, their actions which inspire, enrich and encourage others and who have made a significant contribution towards the sporting achievements of the Flinders Shire during 2022.
Nominees must be 17 years of age or younger as of 26 January 2023.
 

Community Volunteer of The Year Award 

This award is presented to an individual or organisation that has made outstanding contributions in our community.  The award will acknowledge the extraordinary people and organisations in our community who have helped make Flinders Shire a thriving and diverse community during 2022.  
 

Community Event of The Year Award

Individual or group who has staged the most outstanding community or virtual event in the Flinders Shire. 
Events must have taken place during the calendar year of 2022.
 

Local Hero of the Year Award 

This award is presented to an individual who has gone above and beyond the call of duty of help the community.  This might be in a voluntary capacity or exceeding in the normal requirements of a person’s paid work during 2022.  
 

Southern Gulf NRM Sarus Crane Award

This award is presented to an individual or group for their contributions to the sustainable future of the Southern Gulf region. The award recognises significant contributions towards land and water management, conservation and cultural preservation.
