Volunteering in the Flinders Shire

Flinders Discovery Centre

Volunteers play a crucial part in the running of the Flinders Discovery Centre, allowing the Centre to be open on Sundays and over lunch breaks on Saturdays. Are you able to spare four hours, every two months? If so, why not call into the Centre to enquire about volunteering today!

Sharing your passion for the area and learning about new places and cultures are all part of the job. Each year we have an out of town excursion and have previously visited Undara Lava Tubes, Charters Towers, Winton, Longreach, and Mount Isa for the weekend. Often we do local trips to Procupine Gorge National Park, Kooroorinya Falls, Prairie, and the Byway drives plotted through our Shire as well as many others planned.

As a volunteer, you will receive special benefits within the Flinders Discovery Centre and from other attractions and industry partners.

Meals on Wheels delivery provides clients of Hughenden much more than just a meal by providing a daily visit to monitor the health and well being of the clients who may not see anyone else during the day.

  • Please help keep out service going!
  • 1 hour a fortnight of your time is all that is needed to brighten someone's day.

To become a volunteer please call Community Care on 4741 2960.
