Key items discussed at the October 2022 Council meeting included:

  • Council purchased saleyards and cattle rail infrastructure from Aurizon for $75,000, to be used for rail transport of livestock from our Shire via train and/or Cattle Train provider Watco
  • Noted a letter received from Office of the Coordinator-General advising of the completed environmental impact report for the CopperString Project and recommendation for the project to proceed
  • Queensland Strategy for Disaster Resilience 2022-27 has been published at www.qra.qld.gov.au/qsdr
  • Adopted Business and Investors Incentive Policy to attract new investors and support existing business
  • Mayor McNamara to nominate for membership to the MITEZ Management Committee
  • Respond to letter advising the Valuer-General that valuations of rateable properties should be undertaken in Flinders Shire Council’s region during the 2022-23 financial year
  • Thirteen applications approved for grids through the Grid Subsidy program, and two applications for the Vehicle Concrete Crossover Subsidy program
  • Xzibit Pty Ltd to be appointed for the completion of the interior fitout of the Flinders Discovery Centre
  • Extension to contractor agreement for Hughenden Landfill through to 28 February 2023
  • Donation for sporting excellence to Kiah Patterson, and we wish her all the best in the upcoming State Championships.
