COUNCIL MEETING WRAP-UP | SEPTEMBER 2023

Key items discussed at the September 2023 Council meeting included:

  • Condolences to the families of Paddy Unwin, Kevin Torkington, Barry Cooper and Gordon Nott.
  • Land sale to Hollimans Pty Ltd – Hollimans is in the process of scaling up its manufacturing operations in the Hughenden area and stable, good quality housing is crucial for supporting this growth. The company submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) to purchase 12 residential blocks from Council to build up to 20 homes.
  • After the winter closure, the Pool will be open again from Monday 25 September from 8am to 10am and 3pm to 6pm weekdays, and 8am to 11am and 3pm to 6pm weekends. The pool will be closed on public holidays. 
  • Council has agreed to become a Welcoming Cities network member. This organisation offers a free membership for local governments to advance communities where everyone can belong and participate in social, cultural, economic and civic life.   • Donation to be provided towards Scootaville event, which recently travelled through Hughenden raising funds for Legacy.
