Councillor Niki Flute elected as Deputy Mayor of Flinders Shire

Councillor Niki Flute has been elected as the new Deputy Mayor of Flinders Shire following the recent Queensland State Elections, where she polled the highest number of candidate votes in the Shire.

Flinders Shire has witnessed a transition in its leadership, with the declaration of new Mayor Kate Peddle, alongside the election of Cr Flute as Deputy Mayor.

This marks Cr Flute's second term serving the community, having dedicated the previous four years to diligent service.

In response to her election as Deputy Mayor, Cr Flute expressed her gratitude and readiness for the responsibilities ahead.

“I am honoured and humbled for this opportunity following the official polling results of the Flinders Shire election,” she said.

“It was a wonderful and unexpected surprise. With the success of my nomination, I stand proudly and committed with honesty and integrity for all residents as their Deputy Mayor.

“This decision has not been taken lightly and I realise it will be a much greater responsibility in comparison to my last four years as Councillor.

“I am ready and willing to learn and try my best as representative for Flinders Shire.”

Mayor Kate Peddle congratulated Cr Flute on her appointment.

“Niki’s overwhelming support during the election is a testament to her dedication and passion for serving our community.
